Mickie Service received a call from a neighboring municipality about an emergency water main repair. Whenever a water main breaks, the surrounding area and businesses can experience intense flooding that can lead to sinkholes and severe water damage. There is also the potential risk that the municipality loses a significant amount of water or experiences contamination in the city water system.

The solution to this potentially devastating emergency is to have a water line service provider immediately arrive at the site to fix the damaged water main. A water main can be repaired by providing hot tapping services. Hot tapping is the method of making a new branch connection to an existing main water pipe without interrupting another section of the pipe. This repair needs to be installed to prevent flooding and damage to the surrounding area.

Luckily, Mickie Service was able to save this municipality’s business area from the potential water damage, contamination, and flooding that can occur when a water main breaks. Mickie Service worked with our partners, Core and Main, to replace a 30' section of 8" water main. The crew accomplished 3 small service transfers to put the businesses back in service, along with a fire hydrant replacement.
